THERMOPLASTIC MEMBRANES
Thermoplastic membranes are composed of polymers, which soften when heated and harden when cooled. This process is repetitive provided the material is not heated above the point at which decomposition occurs. Thermoplastic membranes can usually be hot air welded throughout their service life.

Warning: The SPRI/NRCA Joint Document on PVC shattering recommends that there be no roof traffic nor repairs attempted on unreinforced thermoplastic membranes when the temperature is below 50°F. Field experience has shown that the shattering phenomena can occur at higher temperatures.

Preventive Maintenance Warning: Here at Peterson Roofing, our experience with T.P.O. roof systems is that preventive maintenance is almost non-existent and when the system goes bad, it goes bad. It is hard to maintain for a longer life cycle.

Energy Efficiency: Although the white T.P.O. roof system claims it will provide significant energy savings and reduce cooling cost, the test by ______ proves this not to be true due to other factors that create heat and cooling to any roof system, such as HVAC hot air release, Asphalt parking lots, and street heat attraction as well as the cool air from wind release...

Note: Due to industry issues with this type of system, we believe many more kinks need to be addressed before we truly recommend T.P.O. roof systems.
